Cello Quintet & Unfinished Works

The String Quartet in C Major is Schubert’s most sublimely beautiful work. Nicknamed the “Cello” Quintet for the unusual choice of a second cello, the piece has a rich, dark sound that is artfully balanced with exuberant, life-affirming moments. The unfinished, one-movement “Quartettstatz” was the first quartet to reveal Schubert’s true genius in that genre.

Carolyn Vega and Ilona van Tuinen, curators from The Morgan Library & Museum, will engage in a pre-concert conversation on the theme of unfinished artistic works.

The museum's restaurant, The Norm, will be serving specials inspired by the performance. Ticket holders receive a 10% discount to The Norm on performance dates. To make reservations, visit thenormbkm.com/reservations and mention you are seeing the show.

Buy tickets for this concert and the exhibition Georgia O'Keeffe: Living Modern together and save 25% on both.
