Biss Plays Beethoven
In this program of musical responses and reactions, Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 2 will be heard back-to-back with the Pulitzer Prize-nominated piano concerto it inspired—The Blind Banister by Timo Andres. Martinů’s "La Jolla" Sinfonietta is a charming reaction to the work of Franz Joseph Haydn, and Haydn’s Symphony No. 98 was written in response to the death of Mozart.

PROGRAM
BEETHOVEN Piano Concerto No. 2 in B-flat Major, Op. 19
TIMO ANDRES The Blind Banister, Concerto No. 3 (New York Premiere; Pulitzer Prize Nominee)
MARTINŮ Sinfonietta for piano and chamber orchestra, "La Jolla"
HAYDN Symphony No. 98 in B-flat Major, Hob. I/98

PERFORMERS
Orchestra of St. Luke's
Joshua Weilerstein, conductor
Jonathan Biss, piano
