Since joining the American Brass Quintet in 1998, Kevin Cobb has established himself as one of the preeminent trumpet players in New York City. In addition to his chamber music expertise he is a highly sought after orchestral player, performing regularly with the New York Philharmonic, the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, the New York City Ballet, and has appeared as guest principal with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony, St. Louis Symphony, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, San Diego Symphony, and the Kansas City Symphony. With his versatility, Mr. Cobb has performed in everything from Broadway shows, film scores and TV recordings, to concerts featuring Metallica, James Taylor, Peter Gabriel and Ben Folds with yMusic. He received his Bachelor of Music degree from the Curtis Institute of Music and a Master or Music degree from the Juilliard School. Currently, Mr. Cobb teaches at the Yale School of Music and SUNY Stony Brook in addition to the ABQ residency at the Juilliard School and the Aspen Music Festival in the summer. He can be heard on over a dozen recordings with the ABQ alone, and his solo CD entitled “One” is available on Summit Records featuring an all American program of unaccompanied music.
