Thea Mesirow

Thea Mesirow is a passionate cellist and educator. She teaches with Orchestra of St. Luke’s (YOSL), Washington Heights Community Conservatory, and the Hunter College Symphony. An advocate for new music, Thea has premiered works by composers such as Antoine Beuger, Reiko Füting, and Sofia Gubaidulina. Her ensemble, Quartet121, “a magnet for world premieres” (New York Music Daily), was supported by Chamber Music America and performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall and Brooklyn Steel. An active freelancer, she performs regularly with bands, off-Broadway, and records for film. Thea holds a Master’s from Manhattan School of Music where she studied with Fred Sherry, and an Artist Diploma from NYU where she studied pedagogy with Marion Feldman.
