Violin Partita No. 3, BWV 1006: Preludio
The Violin Partita No. 3, BWV 1006 is the sixth and final work in Bach’s collection of sonatas and partitas for violin. The Prelude is one of Bach’s most popular instrumental pieces, consisting almost entirely of exuberant, undulating sixteenth notes. True to form, Bach later recycled music from this Prelude in two sacred cantatas, including for organ and orchestra in BWV 29.
