Violin Partita No. 2, BWV 1004: Ciaccona
Like the cello suites, Bach wrote the six works that comprise his cycle of sonatas and partitas for solo violin between 1717 and 1720, while he was working in Cöthen. The Violin Partita No. 2 is arguably his most revered of the set, ending with the monumental Ciaccona, which contains a staggering 60 variations on the opening theme.
