Maureen Gallagher

Violist Maureen Gallagher has been a member of St. Luke’s Chamber Ensemble since 1976. In addition to her activities with St. Luke’s, she performs and records regularly with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the New Jersey Chamber Music Society, Speculum Musicae, and the Mito Chamber Orchestra of Japan. Ms. Gallagher recorded Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante for Deutsche Grammophon. She was selected to play in the Opening Ceremony of the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan, with Seiji Ozawa conducting. Ms. Gallagher graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor’s degree in music with distinction. She is on the faculty of Columbia University. Ms. Gallagher plays a Paolo Antonio Testore viola made in 1743.
