Sasha Ono

Sasha Ono is in active cellist and teacher in the Westchester and NYC areas. She has recently performed in the US at venues such as Avery Fischer Hall at Lincoln Center, Madison Sq. Garden, Temple University as well as venues internationally. In addition to performing on a regular basis, Sasha teaches in Brewster, NY and continues to research methods for educating string students.

Sasha is a recent graduate of the SUNY Purchase College Conservatory of Music where she received her B.A in Cello Performance under the tutelage of Julia Lichten. Other teachers include Jean-Michele Fonteneau, Amir Eldan, and Marion Feldman.  She has trained at summer music festivals such as Pilsen Music Academy, Domaine Forget, and Morges Music Academy and recently graduated with a M.A.T in Music Education from Manhattanville College.

In addition to her performances, recording, and teaching Sasha dedicates much of her time to fundraising for music education programs in the US and abroad. Sasha is currently working on several recording and performing projects as well as conducting high school ensembles.

Sasha is the recipient of the Anne Walker Scholarship, Outstanding Senior in Classical Music award from SUNY Purchase, and is an Ikeda Youth Ensemble National Competition winner. She is also the 2015 winner of the Manhattanville College Concerto Competition.
