Dr. Yuting Wu is a dedicated conductor, cellist, and educator with a career spanning performance, teaching, and leadership in music education. Originally from Tainan, Taiwan, she has performed at Carnegie Hall and internationally across the U.S., Europe, and Asia, appearing as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral cellist. She was a founding member of the Formosa Piano Trio and New Music Ensemble and has collaborated with numerous contemporary music ensembles. Her festival appearances include the Heifetz International Music Institute and the Summer Festival of Pisa in Italy.
Dr. Wu is currently a conductor for the Manhattan School of Music Summer Program, where she leads orchestral training for young musicians at one of the most prestigious conservatories in the country. In addition, she has served as senior orchestra conductor with the Harmony Program, working with students from diverse backgrounds to develop their technical and artistic skills. She has also taught at Queens College, Hoff-Barthelson Music School, and the 92NY School of Music, mentoring students from beginners to pre-professionals. As an educator, she emphasizes technical precision, artistic expression, and the integration of Eastern and Western musical traditions.
Dr. Wu’s conducting training was further refined under the mentorship of Maestro Mark Shapiro at The Juilliard School. She was previously a member of the Carnegie Hall Music Educator Workshop Teacher Advisory Committee and also trained through the CelloBello Teacher Training Program, further expanding her pedagogical expertise.
She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Cello Performance from the City University of New York, where she studied with David Geber and Chris Finckel. Her dissertation, Music and National Identity: A Study of Cello Works by Taiwanese Composers, explores the intersection of music and cultural heritage. She also earned a Master of Music from New York University under Maya Beiser and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Music Performance and Business Administration from National Sun Yat-Sen University in Taiwan.
Dr. Wu currently serves as conductor and lead cello faculty at the Youth Orchestra of St. Luke’s, where she brings her extensive experience in performance and education to inspire and mentor young musicians.
