Part of: Chamber Music Series

St. Luke’s Chamber Ensemble dives deep into the music of Samuel Barber in a program of luminous American chamber music. Barber’s darkly beautiful Dover Beach—sung by internationally acclaimed baritone John Brancy—and the intense String Quartet in B minor trace a journey from youthful lyricism to searing drama. In dialogue with these works, the concert features Leonard Bernstein’s Sonata for Clarinet and Piano. Select songs by Stephen Sondheim and Adam Guettel complete this portrait of American expression in its most eloquent voice.
