Cello Suite No. 5, BWV 1011: Sarabande
Cello Suite No. 5 in C Minor is the only one of the six suites to claim a minor key as its home. The fifth Sarabande is also unique for its sparse, ethereal texture. Unlike the other movements in this, and the five other cello suites, this Sarabande contains no chords, with the harmony of the piece merely suggested by contour and direction of the melodies.
