Leonard Slatkin conducts Orchestra of St. Luke’s in the long-awaited world premiere of Alexander Kastalsky’s Commemoration for Fallen Brothers at the Washington National Cathedral on October 21. Written in 1917 to commemorate the diverse nations and faiths of the Allied lives lost in World War I, Commemoration for Fallen Brothers is a profound Requiem in seventeen movements. The Cathedral Society, in partnership with the World War I Centennial Commission, presents this important world premiere around the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day. Joining Maestro Slatkin, the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, and the Cathedral Choral Society will be soprano Anna Dennis, bass-baritone Joseph Charles Beutel, The Clarion Choir, The Kansas City Chorale, and St. Tikhon’s Chamber Choir.
