Since 2014, the Paul Taylor Dance Company has commissioned thirteen choreographers to create dynamic and innovative works that bring a fresh and diverse dimension to the stage. Lauren Lovette is the first Resident Choreographer in the Taylor Company’s 68-year history. Her work, hailed by The New York Times as “passionate, lush, and full of imagination,” has been commissioned and performed by New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Vail International Dance Festival, American Ballet Theatre Studio Company, Paul Taylor Dance Company, and Nevada Ballet Theatre. She also produced and performed in an evening of her own choreography, Why It Matters. Her work possesses great craft, musicality and beauty, plus a rebellious aspect that calls to mind the dances of Paul Taylor.
