OSL’s beloved Bach Festival returns to Zankel Hall with special guest and Gramophone Hall of Fame cellist Steven Isserlis. Isserlis, known for his technical mastery and expertise in historical performance, joins OSL musicians for the Cello Concertos of CPE Bach and Joseph Haydn. Rounding out the program is Haydn’s Symphony No. 26, nicknamed the “Lamentatione” Symphony. Written during the period of Haydn’s composition often referred to as Sturm und drang, or ‘storm and stress’, this three movement work explores the darker side of Haydn, complete with minor keys and unusual rhythms.
