OSL begins its 2018–2019 Free School Concerts series with a celebration of the 100th birthday of legendary Broadway choreographer Jerome Robbins. A native New Yorker, Robbins’ career and influence is deeply embedded in the cultural architecture of the city. Led by Daniel Capps, OSL will perform the scores to some of Robbins’ best-known creations, including Bernstein’s West Side Story and Fancy Free, while soloists from the New York City Ballet dance Robbins’ original choreography. Daniel Ulbricht, principal dancer of the New York City Ballet, will narrate the story of Robbins’ remarkable life and career for over 10,000 New York City public school students.
