ON-DEMAND — The Voice at Ease
Part of: Baroque 2021
Pay What You Can
Bach’s cantata “Ich habe genug” (I am content) forms the backbone for the final concert in the Baroque 2021 series. At the center of the cantata is the short aria “Schlummert ein,” a sublime, peaceful lullaby that suggests rejuvenation after times of trouble. This mood of reconciliation, celebration, and rebirth echoes through the other works by J.S. Bach on the program, including two sinfonias from the cantatas BWV 21 and 196, the joyous “Laudamus te” from his Mass in G Major, the aria “Ja, ja, ich kann Feinde schlagen” from cantata, BW 57, and Alessandro Marcello’s Concerto for Oboe in D minor, which Bach arranged for keyboard. Baritone Tyler Duncan will join OSL for a complete performance of “Ich habe genug.”
Broadcast on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at 6:30 PM ET from The DiMenna Center for Classical Music.
